Welcome to Geoff Arnold's music site.

Maybe you don't know who Geoff is. That's okay. He doesn't exactly make big attention getting news. But his performances are always well received, and people come away knowing they have heard a gifted song writer and performer.

Geoff is hard at work preparing music for release by the end of 2015. There have been setbacks and other issues that have delayed the work. It has yet to be decided if songs will be released individually or collectively. This is a labour of love, not a "product" to be consumed, as so much "flavour of the month" music is currently being produced. Therefore, there is no "rush" to release. It isn't even a consideration. We've heard a few of the early stage recordings, and they promise to be quite good when ready to be released.

We talked with Geoff a bit about the recording. And here is what he said:

"I have been struggling with just how to produce the music, what form I will be recording. I have decided to go back to the raw basics of the "singer/songwriter" model. So much music is over-produced these days and, as a result, a whole lot of music just fails in its purpose. I don't want to barrage people with 'more of the same'. I want these songs to stand on their own merit. So I have come to the decision that this batch of songs will be stripped down - raw - the way a lot of music I grew up with was made. Some of the deepest connections I have ever had with a song was where it was just the singer and the guitar or piano and nothing else. That's what I'm striving for."

Many bands and artists constantly put themselves before you, wanting your attention. But Geoff believes the music must speak first, reaching into the heart of the listener. There is where the connection is made, not through pointless e-mail blasts and silly promotions just to keep your attention on them, even when there's nothing going on. Seriously?

Music will always be first for Geoff. Celebrity and attention are irrelevant. He's done that, having toured extensively in the past, and lived the life of a "rock star", whatever that actually means. He has said on more than one occasion that the "rock star" life is really quite unfulfilling and distracts from the more important work of creating and performing great music. The pressures which come with that kind of life aren't worth it. So he left it behind to pursue a more meaningful path, a more fulfilling path of crafting good music that will endure.

When the time comes, you will be glad for the decision, because great music is what matters most.
